WE DEEPENED OUR COMMITMENT TO SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMS in 2018...

Ron Chandler, CIO at UCLA organized an amazing day for YALA on Saturday, February 3, 2018. NSBE & SMASH welcomed the Ambassadors and offered them a workshop in the Engineering Department. SMASH is a free residential program hosted by the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science Center for Excellence in Engineering and Diversity (CEED) in partnership with the Level Playing Field Institute.

The Ambassadors were greeted by 3 students and 1 graduate student who shared insight regarding getting into college, staying focused on earning good grades and time management. They designed a propelling instrument and competed to see which device launched the farthest. Team “Distance” won!

The Ambassadors toured the engineering department and was able to see where the internet was launched. The day ended with an exciting UCLA/USC game where UCLA claimed the victory.
